Here is a piece about tiny traces left behind by meat. It takes up, indirectly, the matter of Meat Rays raised in the previous post. The writer admits that the use of the word ray is imprecise – as is the assertion that All Things Give Off Stuff. A ray (excepting those that bear radiant energy such as light or invisible X-rays, or those that bear heat, sound or electromagnetic forces) is often cited as the bearer of information that has imagined, superstitious or folkloric substance only. A trace is a skidmark: it is there, on the tarmac.
